 ABOUT THE SEMINAR

World trade in food sector and particularly dairy products grew steadily in the initial years of this century, but since 2005 the rate of growth has slackened due to rise in food product prices in 2006 – 07 and reduction in world economic growth. Indian economy and its food industry that is shouldering the responsibility of feeding a billion plus population cannot remain unaffected with the Global economic meltdown. To cop up with the growing demand, policies encouraging new investment in farming and processing infrastructures are needed. Many international brands are now entering the Indian market through marketing tie-ups, subsidiaries or joint venture with a suitable partner.

The theme of the seminar has been selected keeping in view the current scenario. With a population of 1.2 billion, India represents one of the largest consumer markets in the world. Additionally more than half of this population is below the age of 30. This young population drives the demand for processed and healthy foods. Growing affluence and higher spending capacity provide further momentum to the dairy sector. Dairy has emerged as a lucrative segment both for domestic companies and MNCs.

While there are opportunities, at the same time the industry has to address certain problems that exist in Indian dairy industry in terms of milk production, milk processing and inadequate provision of cold chain in distribution.

The organizers  expect more than 500 professionals, scientists, academicians in eminent positions in the dairy, food, ingredients and pharma sector, senior officials from the Central and State Government organizations, Chief Executives from Co-operatives and private sector, NGO’s, Farmers’ organizations, Rural Development agencies, etc. etc. The seminar will also provide an opportunity for the exhibitors from India and abroad to showcase their products and technologies.

Eminent speakers, Chief Executives, industrialists, researchers, and other luminaries will deliberate on the issues concerning the opportunities available for the Indian dairy & food industry for improving on the quality, value additions, adoption of newer technology, export potential, foreign collaborations, marketing strategies in India and international markets, related concerns and road blocks in achieving the desired results. The seminar will also present some success stories of dairy organizations who have managed to compete globally. Significant recommendations are likely to emerge.

Keeping in view the potential of Indian dairy and food industry for integration for mutual benefits this seminar “Global Opportunities and Concerns in Dairy & Food Sector” has been conceptualized.

We cordially invite you to participate and give wide publicity to this Seminar & derive the utmost benefit by exchange of views & innovative ideas with policy and decision makers  of the sector
